Ok, so I’ve been doing the Arnold’s Golden 6 workout now for 2 weeks, and have completed a total of 6 workouts. Here’s my thoughts so far:
Overall, it’s an awesome overall body workout that hits all major muscle groups and leaves you feeling like you’ve really accomplished something. If it’s true that the Austrian Oak did that workout exclusively for the beginning of his career, you can see how he developed so quickly. The workout is loaded with basic compound exercises that most people would agree are perfect for basic muscle development.
I think this workout could work for all levels. It’d be a good beginner workout (with consideration of the squats as I’ll discuss below) but more advanced lifters could benefit from it as well. Personally, I believe it’s great for when you’re actively trying to cut weight, because of the whole body nature of the workout.
The one downside, for me, is the squat volume. I can’t handle it 3 days a week, and it’s starting to hurt my knees. To counter this, I’m going to insert deadlifts for squats every other workout. You may find that the squats work for you, but I’ve got to make a modification here if I’m going to be able to continue this workout.
Overall, great workout, would highly recommend it.
